Michigan woman arrested near Capitol had loaded shotgun, and she wanted to talk about Jan. 6, police say

U.S. Capitol Police stated Thursday they arrested a Michigan girl on multiple gun expenses soon after she drove to Washington and advised officers she wished to talk about the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

The lady, Kery Lynn McAttee, 58, experienced a loaded shotgun and an unloaded .22 caliber rifle in her 2001 Chevrolet Silverado when she parked it in the “No Parking” zone in entrance of U.S. Capitol Law enforcement headquarters on Wednesday afternoon, police explained in a push release. The headquarters is a small extra than a 50 % mile from the U.S. Capitol.

“McAttee informed our officers she drove below from Michigan and wished to chat about details she had about January 6, 2021,” the push launch explained.

“Through that discussion, 1 of our Agents spotted a gun situation and the butt of a prolonged gun in the Silverado,” the launch mentioned. “McAttee confirmed there were firearms in her car or truck.”

Police stated they recovered a loaded Mossberg .410 caliber shotgun and a Gamo pellet gun from the truck, along with a Remington Nylon 66 .22 caliber rifle and a Connecticut Valley Arms .50 caliber muzzle loader, both equally of which had been unloaded.

The push launch stated law enforcement at this time have no evidence that McAttee arrived to the Capitol planning “to do anything at all, apart from discuss with our officers.”

She is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of unregistered ammunition, illegal possession and transportation of a semi-automatic rifle and illegal possession of a firearm misdemeanor.
