Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium (BDCC), founded by Dr. Ala Stanford, has started offering COVID boosters for immunocompromised people.

BDCC is a mobile COVID-19 testing & vaccination operation. They have scheduled a weekly COVID Vaccine & Testing program for Philadelphia, PA. People can get a third shot of the vaccine.

FDA Recommendation for Shot 3

Immunocompromised patients suffering from Cancer, HIV, or who have undergone an organ transplant, or require chronic steroids and further treatment under specific medical conditions, can get an appointment there for the third shot, provided they got the 2nd dose at least four weeks ago.

A panel of CDC advisers, followed by the FDA authorization, has recommended the third dose of vaccine for anybody with impaired immune systems.

What is BDCC?

The BDCC is a group of around 200 healthcare professionals leveraging its medical expertise and connections to fight the global pandemic COVID-19 by providing testing and vaccination services in the hardest-hit and most needed areas. They are on the mission of education and advocacy to reduce coronavirus and eliminate health disparities during the Covid-19 pandemic. 

BDCC has been serving Philadelphia’s Black community since coronavirus entered its first wave. In March 2020, during the pandemic, Dr. Stanford left her role as a pediatric surgeon after finding health disparities for low-income and communities of color in Philadelphia and started serving them full-time.
